Life Unexpected 2.08 - “Plumber Cracked” Episode Still
Life Unexpected Season Two: Episode 8 “Plumber Cracked”

Liz’s Facebook post says it all. Today, as TV lovers and a creative team, we are frustrated and saddened. We know a lot of you feel the same way. We all knew this day might come, when one of the most genuine and real shows on the television was denied a back nine. To us, it’s personal.
A fire has been lit.
Honestly before Life Unexpected, we haven’t watched The CW in years. Funfetti gave up in 2005 when One Tree Hill turned into One Life to Live for teenagers. She still asks herself every Tuesday night when she catches sight of it at the gym: why is this show still on? Even Chad Michael Murray left. (Red Velvet left along with him [and Hilarie Burton, of course.)] Even so, by some miracle, we both managed to catch a few minutes of The CW last year, and caught a preview for Life Unexpected. We’ve said this before – but Shiri Appleby and Kerr Smith were a huge draw for us, as well as the vintage WB vibe. Our instincts were correct. That January, we tuned it and instantly adored it. For the first time in five years, we were glad we turned on The CW.
It’s no shock that we have always had similar taste in movies, TV, and books. But I think even we were pleasantly surprised when we realized we were both starting watching Life Unexpected. Who knew a few months later, we’d been writing this blog, hoping to get more people to watch the season two premiere. In the month we wrote our “series”, we found many enthusiastic fans just like us, and later decided to keep the LUX love going by writing weekly reviews.
It is a pleasure for both of us. Always. We are totally invested. No matter what.
We don’t think we can ever say enough how much we appreciate the efforts of the cast and crew. We’ve always felt that we wanted to know more about the people who make a show amazing, or be able to have easy access to express our love of the show. With Life Unexpected, it is just that easy. Facebook and Twitter are the new forms of fan mail. And while we don’t only get a signed picture back, we get real conversation. That’s a rare find.
Speaking of rare, did you know that the only two original shows on The CW are Life Unexpected and Supernatural? Everything else is based on a book or movie or a known character. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Every story has to come from somewhere. But it’s a familiar feeling when we see another production is coming to Broadway and it’s based on a successful movie. People are afraid to take the leap and embrace something new. What about all the young writers out there who are hoping one day to see their book in Barnes & Noble or their play performed at the Public Theater? Does motivation falter when you see what becomes successful and what “fails”? We need to stay on our toes. Write new things. Get inspired. We need to give new work the attention it deserves.
We are glass half-full kind of people. We’d like to think anything can happen. That all the hard work everyone in Life Unexpected world (cast, crew, tweeters, bloggers, viewers) has put forth these past couple of months will move some sort of television mountain, that a network will start supporting one of its own shows. Really supporting. Not just tweeting casually, or throwing in a 30-second preview up on the station every now and then. (And how they have not realized that Wednesday at 8 is the perfect time slot is beyond us.) We find it hard to believe that television watchers would rather tune into Skating with the Stars then a show like Life Unexpected - on any network.

A gem waiting to be recognized, now in danger of not being recognized forever.
Last season, a new series by Liz Tigelaar (who wrote for other hit series such as ‘Brothers and Sisters’) premiered on The CW. The show, entitled Life Unexpected, garnered ample media attention as it is, by…
Funfetti:
The more I think about it, the more I realize how much I loved this episode. Sure, it was a little soap opera-y but I also get a strong feeling something huge is about to happen.
First, Cate and Ryan. I could probably go on and on about them. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist…
